I have been a Dell customer for over a year now. In that period I have encountered one of the best service in the personal computer industry ever. Prior to the Dell, I haveĀ used a HP and a Sony Vaio. While the HP never gave major issues the Sony Vaio was a different story. I have written earlier about the motherboard issues I had. Besides issues with drivers for Linux, the Vaio was expensive to handle and the service was horrible by any standards and to think I had paid US $ 2000 !
So here’s the deal, my space-bar gets jammed, I call Dell, within 5 minutes I get transferred to a Technician, he agree’s there is a issue within another 4 minutes after making me run a hardware-test.
Next day the local Dell office calls me, same day I get the part, and by afternoon I have even got the technician to come over to my place and re-fit the new keyboard. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
This isnt the only example. Some months ago, the optical drive, though working perfectly would give out strange noises at boot up. Dell immediately replaced the drive again No Questions Asked.
Thats called perfect service! No waiting in lines at service stations, pleading with the technician that its not the user’s fault for the damage, begging for repairs and wasting precious time!
Btw, I have signed up with Dell for a 3 year Complete Cover, so apparently accidents like coffee spills and dropping it down is also repaired.
So the next I buy a laptop or need to suggest a good computer manafacturer you know which brand I choose.

Lucky you… we got HCL in office and their service is PATHETIC… actually it’s non-existent…

Godrej was also with HCL but then laptops start giving issues!
